Today was fun
Jul. 8th, 2024 10:05 pmDidn't get too much sleep last night (less than six hours), but I guess that didn't get in the way too much (although I'm exhausted right now and will probably go to bed after posting this entry). I went to school quite early to hand in my books, and I met up with Amber, Thalia and Marline there and we went into the city, which I hadn't planned, but it was fun (and kudos to Thalia for lending me money because I didn't bring any :P). I had a vegetarian pizza bread thing and I bought Look Who's Back (I know, I know, I should probably read Er ist wieder da in its original language, but I found this English copy second-hand and it was cheap). Also spent quite some time sitting on the bookstore floor and looking at all the pictures in a book about the Third Reich while the others were browsing, lol. It's a pretty cool fucking book and the previous owner even made corrections to the text with pencil. That's dedication, haha. I dig it. Thalia and I hung out at my house after we left the bookstore. I let her play Fortnite for a bit, since she hasn't been able to play for so long, and the combination of a PlayStation controller in the hands of an Xbox player and the high controller sensitivity that she wasn't used to made for some pretty hilarious content of her just running into walls. We then played this Hyves Ranking Game boardgame, which was pretty fun! (I hadn't played it before.) It's still insane to me that a Dutch social media just released a boardgame. Anyway, I won with ONE POINT more than Thalia, mwuhahaha! Afterwards, we watched The Believer together, since I really like that movie, but she had to leave ten minutes before the end of the movie, so that was very anti-climactic. e_e
Just now I was just discussing (the future of) Dutch culture and now I'm looking in disappointment at the banner of the Erdling website and a picture I took today in the bookstore of the cover of a book I saw. Both appear to be A.I. generated pictures. It's saddening to see and not even aesthetically pleasing to look at. I'd rather see a simple book cover with some clean text on it than A.I.'s attempt at piecing a face together. It's entertaining to look at, but it's not pretty.
