So Y2K happened. Well, not really, but that's what everyone's been saying because of the CrowdStrike problem causing Blue Screens of Death on Windows machines at big companies all over the world. I suppose it is like what people thought would happen during Y2K, although it had a different cause. If anything, it shows me just how ridiculous the Y2K panic was. Sure, it could've been a problem that could affect a lot of programs instead of just this one service, but even then it wouldn't have been quite the apocalypse people were expecting. The CrowdStrike issue left big companies unable to do their shit for one to two days and, while that sucks, it's not the end of the fucking world, lol. I have one comrade whose plane kept getting delayed because of it, but besides from that, people have mostly just been laughing at how one silly fuck-up could cause this. I didn't really feel any sense of panic, and I think most people didn't. Although I guess I was also not directly affected, so it makes sense that I didn't really give a fuck. But it really makes the Y2K panic look super dumb. People stocking up on water and guns because the computers might break shortly before they're back to doing what they've always done. I think it might be because people didn't really understand computers much in the 1990s, so they might not have understood that there would be a lot of people working on it who would fix it quickly if bad things did happen. Just as it did now. It was probably because the CrowdStrike problem came out of the blue (screen) and had no build-up, but I think the hype around it wasn't all that big. :P Everyone was just like "Oh yeah, businesses all over the world can't get on their computers. Bummer, lol."

July 20th was far more interesting to me. Had Sam's birthday party at their house that day. Their yard is HUGE huge. The people there were fun (although two of them were gone half of the time to smoke :P) and I went into their pool. I didn't bring swimwear, though, so I got in the pool with my clothes on. I was wearing the slowest-drying pair of pants I own, and they weren't even dry yet the next day, lol. Luckily I could borrow shorts from Sam so my grandmother didn't kill me for getting in the car dripping wet. I know what you're thinking. "Derick, why the fuck would you even get into the pool if you didn't bring swimwear?", but their pool is really big and nice and built into the ground and yeah... I mean, how do you stay away from that?! I'll probably upload pictures of the party to a SpaceHey blog tomorrow, or something. I totally pulled off the 60s-70s theme. B]

Also, Biden is gone! Wooooo. Thank God, right? I mean, everyone knew he wasn't going to win the election anyway. I believe the next candidate hasn't been revealed yet, but it's probably going to be Kamala Harris. I don't think anyone actually likes her, but hey, at least she's younger than Biden. And she'd be the first woman president of the US. AND she's a person of color. That's a win for minorities, I guess. ...Still, it's Kamala Harris. :P

But you know who isn't gone? Adrian! He and I have been together for six months today. Longest relationship I've ever been in so far. But it's just different with him. He's cool. He doesn't really judge me. He's actually a NICE FUCKING PERSON who I don't just want to shoot in the head. I want to live and die with that guy, I think. He really makes my life better.

And that's it for now. Next thing coming up is my first session with my psychologist after her summer break. Call me crazy, but I'm genuinely kind of looking forward to it, lol. Who would've thought I'd ever feel that way about a psychologist?! Not me.

But first I have to survive the heat in my room... The weather's been way too hot the past few days and I feel like I'm typing this in a sauna. Wanted to do some stuff in my bedroom this evening, but I think I'll just go to bed soon with as little cover on me as possible. Even sitting in a T-shirt I still feel too warm in here. :/
